Freak Shake I hear you say?

So a few weeks ago, my fabulous friend showed me a picture of her son with the most gorgeous monster/freak shake I have ever seen! From then on, I did nothing but daydream about the lushness that awaited me! … So I decided the kids (mainly me) needed a treat!…… So we headed down to Black Tap at Jumeirah Al Nassem Hotel.

It took a while to find, it’s tucked away on a lower level behind the stunning hotel… not sure why they’ve hidden it away!

The atmosphere was good… very urban, playing 90’s to early 00’s Hip Hop (picture me head bopping) to Nas ‘If I Ruled The World’ along with some up to date C/rap they like to listen to these days, you know that mumbling nonsense that nobody over the age of 25 can understand? 😂

Anyway, the kids had already decided on what they wanted as I had already been drooling over their Instagram feed and had a look to see what they had on the menu.

We tried Oreo, Cotton Candy & Sour Berry shakes.

Now when we say monster… we mean it, literally!!

Let me warn you, if you’re planning on dining at Black Tap… you will probably not be able to fit in a shake also! I suggest you just go for a treat and have the shakes alone, because they are huge and very filling!

The cookie on the Oreo shake was bigger than my hand and the Cotton Candy was piled high!

The price is a bit steep for what it is… 69AED (Not Thrifty at all) for one milkshake…. Having said that, they are an utterly delicious concoction!

It gets very busy, so tables are scarce & the staff seem to be in a rush to get you on your way once you’ve finished, which isn’t always nice when you are waiting for Mr Uber to pick you up. I wouldn’t say it’s totally family friendly, ok for ages 5 and up, but any younger might be annoyed by the loud music & they don’t give those little “keep the kids busy” colouring pages to keep them entertained while the adults order… all in all I give Black Tap a ThrifDee Rating of 6/10.

Food & shakes are amazing… but not family friendly.
